KUDOS PNoy!

Give credit to whom credit is due.
And so goes my post’s title.

I have never fully liked the president; there is something in him that’s so Cory Aquino. Of their family, it’s really only Ninoy whom I have liked most. But that doesn’t place me behind enemy lines nor does that make me an oppositionist.

I am more of a criticizing fan. I have said this before, that I never did vote for PNoy but his time at the office made me a fan. I have become a huge fan, a supporter and a critic all at the same time. I don’t agree with him in many many things but I agree with his goals. I don’t initially see the wisdom in most of his unusual ways – but God, I like them! He is fierce and firmly willed, the kind of president that we needed – after Marcos.

I am turning twenty three in a few days and I’d say am but a new soul to say much. But the last four presidencies, as for me, were a joke compared to what PNoy is doing. The past administration being the worst there is. Imagine the growth that this current presidency has brought upon the country – in a span of three years. Half the road and we have achieved what the past four presidents, including his MOM, had never.

True enough, the poor and the lower sectors of the society would say that these statistics and economic ratings are but just numbers. But as a part of that sector of the society, I would like to bask in the hope that sooner than soon, we are to feel, to experience changes. Although frankly; I see and feel some already.

The biggest ally of this presidency is not the one with a barong or that tuxedo at congress, nor is it the Resorts World dining businessman. It is not just them; it is us, as well. The current attitude and perspective by many Filipinos as measured by the likes of SWS shows how much trust and hope we have to a non-thief head of state. There is just so much trust that I hope we also learn to unlearn the attitude of negativity. I still see it and hear it often, but there are messages of hope and positive change every once in a while. Let’s listen to voices that aim for a better Philippines, frankly stop listening to Kabayan or that Korina Sanchez.

Like I have said above, KUDOS to PNoy
for bringing about a culture of righteousness and positive change.
But the biggest KUDOS goes to all of us, for responding well.

let's try walking a different, better road.

I had a flood of good views on my facebook page when I posted a video today.
Well, for the sake of sourcing, I'd share here the original source which I have also tweeted.

As a young marketing con writing professional (gee I sound mayabang, lols),
I really take delight in well crafted ads.
This video is one of those. So without further ado, check this video first.

After watching it, I flooded my twitter with rather inspired posts, lols.
But seriously, this video's message is way too simple and yet so profound, living up to it is quite a challenge.

Who isn't tired of all the bad news, more so bad media in the country?
Minsan it is just really inspiring to be called to respond to a rather unconventional move.
Bakit nga ba hindi tayo maging mga good news?

So while others waste their time and lives blaming who know who (hello government, hello authorities);
let's try walking a different, better road.

Discover: Pinangat and Its Home Town

It has been a while since I moved here on blogspot.com and I have to admit I have not fully archived most of my posts from my previous blog. But anyhow, since things are set and ready to run. I went through some to finally come up with a Toes and Tummy Tales postI was supposed to repost my Sili (Chili) Ice Cream post until I’ve realized perhaps it would be best to feature my hometown first. So, viola,

I grew up in Bariw, Camalig, Albay, a lush green, simple and peaceful barangay in Camalig, Albay. My playground, when I was still a kid, has the world famous Mayon Volcano for a back ground. It has a been a simple life (and sometimes I wish I can travel back in time)

Anyhow, I have been gone for about seven years and it has only been last year when I went back. But still nothing beats the things and places I have always loved in our town. So should you visit this humble town of ours, here are some things to check out.

PINANGAT
Aside being known for SILI (chilli) our town is far more famous in the country for pinangat, laing in tagalong. This vegetable dish of gabi and fish (or pork) is boiled in coconut milk, This recipe has been cooking in most Camalignon’s kitchens for generations.

Currently, the town is lined with a number of stores selling authentic, home-made dishes at an affordable price! It’s a must try!

 ATV
All Terrain Vehicles are a new attraction in town. It has just been introduced by the local tourism office just recently. These little monsters are best for exploring much of the town’s lush green terrains and the rough and adventurous foot of Mayon Volcano.

So what else do I say? Hop on one!

Hoyop Hoyopan Cave
There are many places to explore in Camalig, Albay, but one of my biggest favorites really is the Hoyop Hoyopan cave. This has been a venue of many movies and TV productions; and was once, believe it or not, a dance club.

It was only until the local government pushed for preservation measures that the cave was left as is. Trekking loving tourist would love this place!

 St. John the Baptist Church
Lastly, having been a Catholic all my life, so I take pride in making Visita Iglesias. Our town’s church has been there since 1605 and still stands proud as to reading this post. So should you like to have a glimpse of a century old church, visit the St. John the Baptist Church as well.

So, there you go. Hope I have at least made you want to see my home town.
See you around, eh?

must try: SILI ICECREAM

I may not look the part, but am definitely a foodie.
And since this blog is new, it took me some time
figuring out what ‘first’ food to post.

Until finally yesterday, I had a shot of the
now trending SILI ICE CREAM (Chili Pepper IceCream)
from Colonial Grill – a proud Bicolano Restaurant.

I was out of words when I tried it.
It’s one HOT ice cream! A sure must try folks!
So when you come and visit the place,
don’t forget to have a taste of
this SILI ICE CREAM.
